I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you for sending us such a wonderful tutor. Our daughter was getting a C- in grade 6 math. Nearly 2 months ago we started searching for a tutor and stumbled upon a Tutor Doctor display in our local mall. A few days later we got our free consultation and in a little over a week Jane started helping Amaris with math. Since then Amaris has had two math tests. The first one she got 30/30 and the second she got 44/48. We were absolutely blown away! As an added bonus Jane is also fluent in French and has been helping out in that subject as well. I really like working with Ryan. He has helped me a lot with my school work and makes me feel more comfortable and confident when I’m working on it. I trust him a lot and he is easy to talk to. I can talk to him about things I don’t talk to other people about, and he gives me really good advice. We are very happy with our experience to date with our son’s tutor, Ryan. We were not sure what to expect when we signed on, but Ryan is very conscientious and relates extremely well with our son, Bryce. They have really made a connection. We notice that Bryce actually looks forward to his time with Ryan and gets his supplies together and sits down at the table as soon as Ryan comes to the door. The help Ryan has given him seems to make Bryce much more confident when working on his school assignments, and has led to achieving better grades. Previously, when working with us, Bryce usually procrastinated and avoided his homework as long as possible. He actually now stays after school to work on assignments and projects if needed, something we have never seen in the past.

My son Jay was 9 years old and struggling in school both educationally and behaviourally. It was a huge struggle to get him to do his daily homework and his poor grades made him reluctant to even try to do the work. Jay just didn't understand what was being taught in school, and I could tell the teachers were just "moving him through" the grades without him being able to even read properly. His spelling tests were 2 or 3 out of 20 every time and working with him every night with flash cards and spelling drills was burning us out as parents, straining our relationship and making our son even more frustrated. At a local fair we saw the Tutor Doctor booth and took a brochure. After a meeting with Margo, we decided it was in Jay's best interest to invest in a tutor to try and help him with his schoolwork. I will admit, we didn't have much faith. Jay was a handful behaviorally and after a few tries, he was matched with a male tutor that he really liked and respected. I have been amazed at the transformation in my son since working with Curtis (our tutor). The tutor worked with Jay and got him to understand HOW to do the school work correctly and with this understanding Jay has blossomed into the intelligent child I knew he was underneath. He now proudly shows me A's and B's on his spelling and his math tests. Homework is now accomplished with ease and his behavior has changed dramatically! Jay's self-esteem has improved radically, he now has friends and a social life which he has never experienced before, and I attribute it directly with tutoring. Jay believes in himself and his ability to get good grades, life is much easier now with a happy child whom is not struggling with school work! We just received her report card & had parent-teacher interviews this morning. Her teachers have said in the past few weeks she has done a complete turnaround! They can't believe it's the same little girl that started the year off with them. We are SO very PROUD of her. Tiyana has built some confidence in her which in turn has caused her to begin to interact in class discussions. Thank you for this. We are so happy with Nathanael's tutor. She is the perfect match for Nathanael. She is outgoing and enthusiastic and comes up with very imaginative ways for Nathanael to remember things. He was struggling so hard with school before she started tutoring him. His Grade 2 teacher and I were constantly working with him to understand his phonics and basic math concepts but it just wasn't enough. His reading was close to a Kindergarten level and I was so worried about him entering Grade 4 next year and being unable to keep up and possibly losing his love for school because of it. He took to Natasha right away and is always waiting at the door for her on his appointment days. He does his homework now without me having to nag and bargain with him and he has even started to try working on it all by himself without anyone asking him. He is understanding his math and math properties and is learning new ways to help him with subtraction. He has advanced so much in reading that we are just amazed. He is sounding out words without getting frustrated like before and he now reads through the simpler books that were too hard for him with ease and on his own. Our tutor has shown him what level of books to look for in the library and at school to work on now and he is happy to work on the harder words without getting discouraged. Seeing him actually reading has lifted a huge weight and worry off my shoulders and his progress in math even has his teacher using him to help some of the other students that don't quite understand it. He is so proud of himself and his new-found self confidence is just a wonderful thing to see. Since Tutor Doctor hired a tutor for my 8th grade son, he has been eager to learn. He looks forward to having a one on one session to help him with his comprehension and a better understanding of his homework.
